This classic, directed by Spike Jonze, may well be “the best rug-pull in advertising history” (Adweek, 2017), suggesting that people have an unnatural attachment to their furniture. This was the first ad announcing IKEA’s arrival to the US. It garnered the Grand Prix at Cannes as well as the Grand Clio.

I stumbled upon this gem hiding on my old PowerBook G4. It’s the original storyboard image that we used to sell this idea to the client. Let’s just say Mr. Jonze took this baby to the next level.
